Ball Mill Steel Balls Quantity
Steel balls quantity in ball mill directly decides the grinding efficiency and capacity of ball mill, so the quantity should be kept in proper degree. In this article, we mainly talk about what is the proper quantity of steel balls and how to test if the steel balls quantity is proper.
What Is The Proper Quantity Of Steel Balls?
When the rotate speed of ball mill is fixed, and the total volume of all the steel balls only takes 10% of the ball mill cylinder, the steel balls mainly do sliding motion instead of cascade movement. When the steel balls quantity reaches to about 30%, the movement of steel balls is also mainly sliding motion. But some balls start to do cascade movement. When the steel balls quantity is over 40%, the cascade movement of steel balls is in a dominant position. When the quantity reaches to 50%, it is very easy for the steel balls to do cascade movement.
From the above information we can see that, the proper quantity of steel balls in ball mill is between 30% and 50%.
How To Test Steel Balls Quantity In Ball Mill Is Proper?
In production, if the quantity of steel balls is fixed, we should consider about the effect of size of balls and their proportion. While testing, operators should make sure the feeding size, the overflow fineness of classifier and circulating load etc. are the same, and then check if the steel balls quantity is proper from two aspects:
- 1.If the ore feeding quantity and the overflow fineness of classifier do not change, but the circulating load decreases, this means that the grinding capacity improves. At this time, operators can increase the ore feeding quantity.
- 2.Analyzing the regrinding return from the classifier, if the fine particles increase, that’s to say the quantity of small balls in ball mill is not enough; if the coarse particles increase, that’s to say there are not enough large balls in ball mill.
