Factors Affect Spiral Classifier Effect

Spiral classifier is one of the important beneficiation equipment. Its processing effect will also affect the efficiency of the whole beneficiation plant. There are many factors affect the processing effect of spiral classifier, which can be mainly divided into three aspects: the structure of equipment, the properties of minerals and the operation condition. In this article, we mainly introduce these three aspects.

Factors Affect Spiral Classifier Effect

The Structure Of Equipment

The classifying area in the trough is the decisive factor affects the capacity and partition size of the spiral classifier. Increasing the width of trough, raising the height of overflow weir or reduce the dip angle can all increase the classifying area. The width of classifying trough is decided by the spiral diameter and it should be about 100-200mm larger than the spiral diameter. The dip angle is decided by the necessary lifting height of sand-returning. In the production process, the specification can be changed is the height of the overflow weir, but it is generally determined at the beginning of production. Besides, the rotation speed of spiral will also affect the turbulence of liquid level and the sand-returning quantity.

The Properties Of Minerals

The properties of minerals mainly affect the classifying effect from three aspects: density of minerals, gradation composition and sediment percentage. The capacity of spiral classifier is proportionate to the density of minerals. The effect of gradation composition and sediment percentage mainly shows at the pulp viscosity. If the viscosity of ore pulp increases, the sedimentation velocity of ore particles will decrease, and the capacity and classifying accuracy also decreases. So if the ore pulp contains much mud, operators should first desliming.

The Operation Condition

The operation condition of spiral classifier also affects the processing effect. If we add agent to the beneficiation plant, it will affect the classifying process or even the grinding process. Agent with dispersant effect and agent with condensation effect have great difference on the sedimentation velocity of ore particles. But this factor is often ignored by operators in the actual classifying process.
