Impact Load
The larger the size of jaw crusher, the more serious the spare parts damaged. If the raw materials need to be crushed have large size, then the wear-resistant parts also bears relatively stronger impact load. So, in order to make sure the toughness of spare parts, we should improve the hardness of spare parts under the premise of no parting. Obviously, high manganese steel with modified and dispersion strengthening is the ideal material. It has high hardness and its toughness also can ensure the normal running of jaw crusher. But for some medium or small size jaw crusher, the impact load on spare parts is not so large, so high manganese steel cannot be fully hardened. In this case, we suggest manufacturers adopt medium carbon low alloy steel or high chrome cast iron.
Component And Hardness Of Material
Component and hardness of material is also an important factor affects the spare parts materials selection. According to research, when the hardness of metallic material is larger than the 80% of the hardness of raw materials need to be crushed, with the increasing of relative hardness, the abrasive resistance of material will also increase. So while selecting materials to make spare parts of jaw crusher, manufacturer should choose materials not only have high hardness but also can meet the requirements about the toughness.
Wear Mechanism
Materials selection should also consider about the wear mechanism of wear-resistant parts in jaw crusher. If the wear of spare parts is mainly shearing wear, then manufacturers should firstly consider about the hardness while selecting materials. But if the wear is mainly deformation wear or fatigue wear, manufacturers should firstly consider about the ductility and toughness.
Of course, while choosing materials, manufacturers should do their best to achieve high quality but low price. At the same time, the manufacturing technics and management should also be taken into consideration.
